Every Cabinet starts out as a Box, this is the foundation of making a Cabinet. David sent me the place measurements where this piece is going into. David also wanted it to be stained dark so that it matches his Mediterranean feel. Wood species is very important. I choose a maple because it stains evenly with a smooth look. Therefore squareness and type of wood matters.
Once the box is square and set to the right dimensions, I move onto the storage arrangement. David primarily needs this Cabinet to hold firewood for his iron potbelly stove. The largest opening, the center will be for that. He also has a large stereo woofer he wants on the left and some storage on the right. He also wants the entire cabinet on caster so that he can move the cabinet to load and unload the firewood. As you will see on one photo I failed to follow my own designs, David was able bring it to my attention that the space for the woofer wasn't large enough. Another good reason to keep my customers aware of the project as I go. It was easy to make the adjustments this early in the process.
Once the Stain and Clear cost as been add the Cabinet is ready to be delivered.
