Robb, Requested a plain 6 drawer dresser to fit his space. It needs to be 72 inches wide, 24 inches deep and 39 inches tall. He wants in Matte Black with hand holes instead of handles. Like all cabinets they start as a box. I will assemble it and then paint the inside before building the drawers. I will be using 3/4 inch ply all around and then frame the front with 3/4 inch thick oak for strength.
As you can see by the photo: Outer cabinet assembled and inside painted Flat Black. I also installed the 6 pairs of drawer sliders. These sliders will expose the entire 22 inch depth of the drawer space. It is terrible with most dressers you can only see 70% of the opening and if it does show you the entire opening, the drawer starts to fall out. These sliders give you greater access with stable sliding.
Next Step is to work on the drawer facings. It is important that these faces be strong to support the weight of the drawer while pulling it out while maintaining a attractive appearance. For this I will be using 1/2inch Baltic Birch Plywood, very stable, attractive and strong.
The last photo shows the dresser with the Baltic Birch Plywood fronts with pulls cut into the them. Also I added the Oak facial trim, kick boards, and top trim. This keeps the dresser with ware & tear when moving and/or just daily use. Next; sanding sanding sanding before moving onto painting and clear coat. The cabinet and drawers will be separated for this next process.
